Act One- 4:30pm-6:15pm Ages 4-5th grade
Wiggles and Giggles: 101 Dalmatians (Ages 4-5 *Must be age 4 by 10-26-2010*) Instructor: Pat Valleroy Wiggles and Giggles is a musical movement class and is designed to get kids comfortable with rhythm, singing, using their imagination and learning acting skills through music and games. All of our CYT students will perform in our Showcase at the end of the fall session. Please join us and get an early introduction to the world of performing arts! This age group is not eligible to audition for the current production.
Our Gang: Peter Pan (Ages 6-7 *Must be age 6 by 10-26-2010*)Spaces Limited! Instructor: Juliet Weaver This high-energy class introduces children to the fundamentals of theatre using songs, drama games, skits, and theatre fun. It is designed to build self-confidence and stimulate imagination. This age group is not eligible to audition for the current production, but all CYT students will perform in our Showcase at the end of the fall session.
Actor’s Toolbox (Ages 8-5th grade) Acting Class Instructor: Ali Ibsen Discover the actor inside of you! By using theatre games and improvisation, students will learn basic theatre skills in a supportive, creative and fun environment. Learn how to answer the questions all actors must ask before they even pick up a script: Who? Where? What? Why? How? This class is the first step to building a solid foundation in the art of acting.
Sing OUT! (Ages 8-5th grade) Vocal Class Instructor: Jessica Jones Love musical theater? Always wanted to learn how to sing? Learn about the most essential element of musical theater: the voice! Students will work on vocal techniques, proper breathing, diction, projection and best of all, singing. Group numbers will be used and outside practice is recommended.
Extreme Broadway(3rd -5th grade)- Class is FULL!! Musical Theatre Class Instructor: Anna Kilbride Broadway hits from the past and present become the launching point for students to learn the basics of movement, singing and acting as they pertain to the world of musical theatre. This class will provide young students the opportunity to explore acting exercises and characterization along with simple movement for musical theater. Students will learn songs and movement from such musicals as Beauty and The Beast, Oliver, Mary Poppins and more.

Act 2- 6:30pm-8:30pm 6th Grade -18 years
Acting Master Class(9th grade -18 years)Class is FULL! Advanced Acting Class Students will choose one short play or series of 10 minute plays (with the guidance of the instructor) as a class project and then collaborate on all aspects of a production. Extensive work on telling the story, tracking a character and understanding the playwright's point of view will be explored. Students will also use the class as a rehearsal workshop .This class is designed for advanced actors who want to keep skills sharp and gain deeper experience in developing a character and creating a play.
Operation Improv(6th grade -18 years) Acting/Improv Class Instructor: Ali Ibsen This class is about fun! The instructor will use theatre games and physical exercises to teach students the basics of improvisation. Students will be encouraged to use their imaginations as they learn to create characters, build scenes and invent whole worlds without ever using a costume, prop or set piece. Students will also practice teamwork and listening skills to help them work as an ensemble and learn the discipline of performance.
Villains and Vixens(6th grade-18 years) Additional Spaces added! Musical Theatre Class Instructor: Anna Kilbride & Michelle Evans Start warming up those voices for this remarkable class celebrating the fun and frolic of vain and vicious characters of musical theater. Step into the shoes of outrageous villains and vixens from hit Broadway shows such as Chicago, Jekyll and Hyde, Little Shop of Horrors and Sweeney Todd. Students will explore and prepare selections for a stunning musical revue all while developing essential acting/vocal skills.
Critic's Corner (Ages 8 – 12th grade) Online Class Instructor: Connie Matthews If you have difficulty making a commitment to our weekly classes then this class may fit your schedule perfectly, especially if you have you ever wanted to be a critic! This invaluable class gives you the opportunity to do just that. This is a very flexible class and will be handled via e-mail and independent study assignments. Students may choose to see shows or watch movies on their own and then critique and share their ideas. This challenging, yet fun class gives students a firm theatrical foundation. Move over Roger Ebert! In addition to the independent study aspect of this show, Our Critic's Corner class will attend Irving Berlin's White Christmas on Saturday, November 6th at 8:00 pm at The Fox Theater in Atlanta. Tickets are approximately $80 per person. Students who contact me prior to August 31st and sign up to attend will receive a complimentary, non-transferrable ticket, but each student must be accompanied by a paying adult guardian. Parent tickets must be paid for by August 31st. Additional family tickets may be purchased at that time. Additional tickets will not be available after August 31st and enrolled students who have not contacted me and paid for an adult guardian ticket will not have tickets for the performance. Students must have their own transportation and will meet at the seats at the start of the show. Please contact Connie Matthews if you would like your child to attend the show and provide information on number of family tickets you will need no later than August 31st.
