SHOWSTOPPERS

Every Broadway musical has a big, spectacle song that brings the audience to their feet. Learn the flashy dance and brassy singing required to perform these show-stopping numbers. Class will focus on musical theater dance styles, choral and solo singing, and stage presence/charisma. Showcase will feature songs like ‘Sit Down, You’re Rockin the Boat,’ ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’ and ‘One.’

MUSICAL THEATER MASTERCLASS

Learn the dance, acting and singing skills required to make it on Broadway in this exciting class. Students will focus on Musical Theater Dance Style, Type, Character Acting, solo vocal technique and how to cooperate as a chorus. Join this class and the Great White Way may only be a step away.

OUR GANG: MARY POPPINS

Tuesdays, 4:30pm-5:30pm
Ages 5-7
Teacher: Savannah Hodges
Learn the basics of musical theater in this exciting class for our youngest students. Students will learn basic musical skills such as the solfege scale, dynamics, and diction. They will explore movement, beat, and motion. Lastly, students will develop story telling skills, express emotion, and utilize their imagination. These skills will be used to perform favorite songs from Mary Poppins, such as “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Jolly Holliday for Mary,” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Students will have an opportunity to perform their Showcase at one of the performances of our mainstage productions of Mary Poppins at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church.

CHARACTER CREATION

Tuesdays, 4:30pm-6:30pm
Ages 8-5th Grade
Teacher: Zach Roe
Ready to get into character? Every actor’s job is to tell a story through character. Learn the important elements of developing an outrageous character in this fun acting class. Students will utilize their body and voice in different ways to create unique characters. Through games and activities, students will also discover how to create believable and realistic people onstage. Then, students will perform their characters in monologues and scenes.

Refund Policy:

Students who audition for our Spring production of Mary Poppins are not eligible for a class refund. If students would like to switch to another class, they may do so for a $25 administrative fee, if space is available. Students who do NOT audition and are not able to complete the class, may be refunded as follows –

No refunds if student has auditioned for Mary Poppins, but student may switch to another class if space is available for a $25 administrative fee.

Full refund, less $25 administrative fee if class is dropped before January 1, 2018.

Classes prorated minus $25 admin fee until February 1, 2018.

No refunds after February 1, 2018.
